Moochas Gracias

I don't smoke but my friends do. Yesterday night I went to a bar to listen to a band. For some reason, Thursday nights are the most happening nights here at State College be it music scene (classic rock variety), out of town bands, drinks specials. I guess it is the American extension of a weekend to rake in as much moolah into the bar coffers. Anyhoo, while drinking when you are around people who smoke, you will often see people stop by and ask for a smoke. Obligingly enough the request is granted. There are the regulatory "thanks" followed by "where are you from?" question we get based on our skin color and a couple of small banter before the person walks away puffing on yet another mooched cigarrette.

Yesterday night my roommate found his pack empty because someone or the other kept stopping by our table to ask for smokes. He kept on obliging (the true gentleman that he is...that is another joke though). Our other friend was then attacked since he had a pack lying on the table for easy access (for himself and not others). Later on while discussing this we thought what would it be like to deny someone their request or to ask for favors instead. If a girl stops by and asks for a smoke, you ask her to flash to earn a cigarrette and you say no to a guy. How hard can it be? What would they do? How would they react? Question is could you? Well we hope to find out at our next outing.

The first day of school!

Appropriately enough the first blog I post here is reminiscing the first day of classes we had at VJTI as a class. Twas a rainy day in early october.. yeah u remember how we had to agonizingly wait for the admissions to get over or actually start was it? After all that dillydallying, we finally could not wait for classes to start. Oh how soon that bubble of expectancy was to burst. We had an extended M.B. Shah lecture on engineering drawing and lines (thick and thin). Oddly enough that is all I remember of the first day. I do remember bumping into a coupld of seniors and haggling over the prices of books and notes that they had to offer.

So this was just to get started, get the juices flowing, waking up the little "Willy" in all of us, starting a debate, hitting up a note, boiling up the kettle. We can treat this as a blackboard to blog on the unfinished business from VJTI, discussions we left incomplete or new topics that you think can be debated on this social forum. We have all come a long way in life, learnt new things, made new friendships, bonds. We can share some of our experiences along the way to help others cope with theirs. Be it some new interesting reads or movie reviews, or maybe just a link to your own personal blog if you have any, let it all out.
